Merlo Acquaiolo + repost

Hello All,
this pic was taken yesterday close to my mum's home during a dull afternoon. Two dippers fluttered on a little creek, catching some fishes. I took one with a fish in the beak, but that shot isn't very sharp, so I prefer this one.

Thanks for viewing.
C&C are very welcome :wavey:

I love the dipper and most of the habitat included Monica. I think your composition is very well done with the bird off centered, left. I find, personally, that the roots on the far bank (top edge) to be distracting and if it were mine, I would be tempted to crop a bit leaving the roots out. Nice job!

Thanks Craig for your tip.
I've cropped out the roots, I hope this is better. :wavey:

Nice shot either version. I kind of like the roots to help give a feeling for the environment, but the crop w/o lets you focus on the bird more.

I like both versions Monica - the repost for the closer look at the bird and the original for it's better feeling of habitat for me. 1/80 did you well here - the bird is sharp but I like the sense of motion in the water.

Monica,

I like both versions but if I had to pick one it would be the repost only because I can see more detail in the dipper than I can in the original post.

The setting is quite lovely and I like the Dipper's pose.

Very nice, Monica. I also prefer the repost. I think it would be good if you could get the detail back in the blown whites in the upper white area. If you're using Photoshop you can use the Shaows/Highlights command to work on this. :toast: :toast:

This is the first White-throated Dipper I can remember seeing posted to Avian. Very nice. The American Dipper is pretty drab in comparison. I prefer the re-post, and I like Charlie's suggestion of trying for a bit more detail in the whites. Minor nits on a fine shot. Thanks for showing me a new species.

I like the repost Monica. A very nice setting for this neat bird. The whites are a bit bright, but I am sure you can get those back is you rework it a bit.
