Hurricane River - UP

Our first evening in the UP, we visited a "to stop at" spot - the Hurricane River near Grand Marais in the UP. The breaking up and the sun setting. This is an interpretive presentation.

The river at this point flows into Lake Superior.

This image was captured shortly after my previous posting in this gallery of the deadfalls on the Hurricane River captured just a few feet from the spot where this image was captured.

Wind was a consideration in the rendition of this image as "Photo Art".

5DMII, 17-40 F/4.0 L, RAW, Manual mode, tripod w/remote release

Robert, that is the next thing to try and tackle on my photographic "to do" list. Looking forward to taking a week long class in Painter with a photographer who does a lot of mixed media of landscapes and nature themes. I enjoy "playing" having some idea of what I envision an image to be at the end of post processing. Thank you Robert for your gracious comment.

Steven. This is quite dramatic and compelling. For my personal taste the lighting is too harsh for lengthy viewing and exploring, but others may disagree. :biggrin:
