Sunset, Glacier Point

From last May's California trip. I won't bother to point out "Icon Alert!" (Oh, I just did...) But with clouds and light like I had on my last evening in Yosemite, who cares? This is the view from Glacier Point about 5 minutes before sunset. Half Dome simply glowed in its natural "spotlight".

Beautiful color and light, Danny. I know everyone always hates "crop a little here, crop a little there" suggestions, but I think a very slight bit off the top may make it even stronger -- it is at least just as strong that way, if you ever need to print with a longer width than height.

I visited your site again and am enjoying my visits! You've done a nice make-over.

This is the best image that I've seen from Glacier Point. Icon or not - this trumps all other shots of this scene that come to my mind. Seriously!

Absolutely gorgeous. I love the light on the dome vs. the light in the cloud above.

Jaw-dropping light you got here, Danny. I really like how the highlighted cloud hangs across the whole frame.

Marvelous work. I love the light and composition. I wouldn't crop the top. The blue at the top gives the lower cloud more definition. Can I have it?

Joe.

Danny, I'm trying real hard to find something to nitpick, just so I can be different than the others.....I'm sure there is something....

Ahh, how about - Half Dome, how cliche!

Wonderful image!

Danny:

I'm sure by now you're sick of all the "oohs" and "aahs" this photo has generated, but I just can't help but add my own. So, "ooh" and "aah"!

Seriously, this is stunning. This is the kind of rare photo that is about as close to "being there" as one can get without actually being there.

Print it big and hang it on your wall, unless you're prone to vertigo.

Thanks for sharing!

Danny,
This is stunning. Did you have the pleasure of the after glow on half dome after sunset? Sometimes that is even more dramatic. Regardless, this is a superb icon image and to be admired again and again.

Beautiful shot, I need to get there one of these days. I still have a lot of traveling to do. I love participating here, because I can at least live vicariously through all of the photos.

So visually appelaing, Danny! What's not to like? THere's terrific warmth with pink and blue hues of color. I find the warm and cool color temperatures so appealing in an image! Great stuff!

How Danny. The subject might be iconic, the light is not! Great image. One might think you could react quickly to the lght by using a light and flexible system...4x5 format?? :) Gorgeous image.
