Waterfalls

This is one of my earliest waterfall shots. It is a place called The Basin, part of Grafton Notch State Park in NH. I used a Nikon FM manual film camera, with 28mm lens at f22. I has not been altered or cropped in any way. I took this photo on an overcast, drizzley day. I love how it's composed...how the indentation in the rock in the foreground both balances and leads the eye to the waterfall. It also gives the image more dimension. Because of the weather, the wet rocks glisten with moisture, which adds to its texture and color intensity. It also avoids any harsh shadows or reflections, giving everything a nice, even tone. I purposefully used the rocks to frame the falls itself, further pulling the eye toward the water. It was a beautiful place.
