The spatulate-leaved sundew is one of three common species of insect-catching sundew plants that live in bogs in North America. This plant attracts and catches insects in the sweet, sticky secretions on hair-like stalks on its leaves. The leaves close around the captured prey and digest it to supplement the meager nourishment it receives from the bed of moss floating on the acidic waters of the bog.
