Nature has been my passion since childhood. Photography has been a hobby for me since my early teens, and also a part of career duties including entomology research and then work as a wildlife biologist (full-time) and writing for an outdoor magazine (part-time). Photography then was a tool to illustrate outreach projects and articles. My images appeared in two books and several magazines, as well as agency publications. My personal photography was always a private endeavor, but now I am beginning to share my images of the beauty I find in wild places and wild things. It is my hope that these photographs will help inspire appreciation for and conservation of natural resources. Images of the wonders of nature – in wilderness or our back yards – can foster understanding of the circle of life upon which we all depend.
Although I enjoy occasional travel, most of my photographs depict the local environment in and around the Adirondack Forest Preserve in upstate New York. My lens finds the wonders of life that surround us every day. There is extraordinary beauty in the most common things. We need only to look at them with wonder.
