Lion's Banquet

This is one of three dominant males that were gorging on an elephant near camp. The story is, these three came from an adjoining territory the year prior and managed to topple one of the largest lion prides in the area. A pride that originally numbered over thirty. They failed to charm most of the ladies however, and the pride was forever splintered into small groups of females with cubs. These guys brought fear and terror with them. On the morning this photo was taken, we awoke to a disturbance ... a group of females and an immature male risked the electric fence of our camp in order to escape their wrath. They escaped, but not without a scarred ego. That day brought with it... the Lion's Banquet.
