Long-Billed Curlew - Numenius americanus
The coolest, longest beak (per ounce) of the species I found in eastern washington. I wouldn't have found these guys without the kindly help of a nice lady that stopped to talk at Birder's Corner. While I was thrilled to find the Black-Necked Stilts, there were several species I'd hoped to see, but hadn't, and this was to be my last stop on my way home. She told me to look in new grassy fields....And I did. Two Curlew were in the LAST field before the freeway. Very cool beak!
(fyi..the viginette is from the scope, couldn't edit it out)
Enjoy!
