Bald River Falls

As part of my research for a three day trip to the Great Smoky Mountains, I searched for waterfalls along my route. Bald River Falls stood out as a location I had to visit along the Cherohala Skyway. Arriving in Atlanta that morning, I made my way over the steepening hills of rural Tennessee and found this 100 ft high falls bright in the noon sun. I spent the next couple hours there beneath the bridge discovering this spectacular place. While there, a group of fisherman set up in the hole just beyond the low trees to the right. It was just the right welcome back to the Smokies.
