This is my first upload to NPN. Plese tell me what you think.

This was taken in Oct. 2002 in Clear Creek Canyon in Zion. This is a "found view"--I did not place the leaves on the rock. Took this with a Nikon f5 and Velvia 50. Had to crawl through a bush in the rain to get this! But then, crawling around in canyons in the rain is far better than my day job!

Phillip,

Welcome!

This is beautiful. The only adjustment you might condsider is opening up the dark area in the Upper right corner. But, that's minor. This really is quite stunning.

Nature's lines! This is something I'd love to have on my wall. It's so festive and uplifting and naturally beautiful. A wonderful shot!

amazing find, the colours and the perfect maple leaf shapes make this image. Only suggestion is to lighten up the rockface a touch especially top RH corner. A reflector may have helped here?

Phillip,

I really like this one. The diagonal composition aligned with the grain definitely works. I'd also agree with the other folks about maybe trying to lighten the top right of the frame just a little bit.

Well seen!

Scott...

A beautiful hidden gem. Wish I could see more detail inthe raindrops. I would consider a slight crop from the top.

Very unique image with a lot of appeal. I agree about either cropping the dark area at the top or improving the shadow detail. Welcome to NPN and I am looking forward to more images!

Welcome. I agree it is a great find. I was surprised you didn't place the leaves -- I would have bet that you did because I never find any leaves in such good condition, and all laying flat like this, not to mention in such a nice pattern.

Very nice, thoughtful composition with good balance. Nature's art presented so well. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I love shots like this, and you've done very well here. I agree that the upper right would be improved by showing more detail. I look forward to seeing more!

I will add my kudos as well...I really like this. The sporadic pattern of the leaves is very nice. Done only as nature could I guess.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions. You need not be so polite--I'm thick skinned!

The leaves are nice and flat because it had been raining all day. There was still quite a bit of color in the higher areas and I'll try to post a few more later.

Very nice, and welcmoe, Phillip!

I'm a bit averse to the long and skinny of 35mm, so I'd also recommend the crop from the top to 4:5 aspect ratio.

Nicely done; let's see more!

The only problem with this image is that I can't see it on my lightbox under a loupe! Seriously though, excellent work!

Wonderfully seen - congratulations. I thing the crawling around etc is some of what makes photography so great. We're looking forward to our trip to that area.

I just noticed that I said Nikon F5 in my original post. I meant Nikon F100. Must be CRS. Anyway, I have since switched to Canon.

What a great image. I might burn the LLHC and dodge the URHC to even out the light a little. Welcome aboard.

Very nice, congratulations on your first pick making Editors pick. Nice to see you used the found view of the leaves, when I've tried "improving" images by moving things around in shots like this I usually find I make it worse.
