Storm Light, El Capitan

Back from a great trip to Yosemite with a few NCNP photographers. My film won't be back for a bit, so here is a shot taken with the Sony DSC-F707 with no filters.

This was taken at one of those moments you think that all is lost for late day light. It clouded up and a steady rain came down. We headed up for tunnel view, and at worst, would have waited in the rain for something to happen, but we didn't have our hopes up. But nature delivered this time. (For Dan-this was taken Saturday evening, makes me really wish I had a longer lens for my MF gear, I was pretty wide when I shot with my Mamiya)

Hi Tim,

Looks like you did better that I did. Lovely light. Did you get this on Sunday?

This has a nice feel of warm light mixed with storm and rain. Classic El Cap profile.

Tim,

Wow! looks like I missed out on some great light. You never know what a storm will bring. I am anxious to see what your MF results are and the results of some of the others who went. I like this image.

Tim, I love the warm tones and the beautiful light on the cliff. I think this is a beautiful image.

Nice shot Tim! I had a good time shooting with you guys. Hey, you beat Anders in posting too! I thought for sure he'd have us all beat. I shot pretty wide as well and didn't get many close ups (I was too chicken to leave my 10d exposed to the elements). I like this, the light sure was nice. Anxious to see the rest when you get them back.

Very cool shot. I think the grey behind El Cap, isolating it from the valley, helps make this stand out.

Too bad we missed this, but we had to leave Yosemite Saturday morning after a week in the Valley. Sunset was pretty dull Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.

Timothy,

I have spent many days in Yosemite over the years, and have seen some spectacular light there, but this is simply gorgeous!

What a rare treat for you. You'll hold this moment for a long time.

It's been done a zillion times, but you've got great light here, Timothy.

I'd crop from the bottom to lose some of the tree-lined talus slope.
