This long abandoned jetty at the end of the Glen Etive road is a popular spot to take pictures. However on this particular day the weather was beyond appalling the rain was incessant and driven by a vicious wind. I sought refuge in an old boat shed and set up my camera with some modest protection around me. I made an exposure of over a minutes duration thanks to a 4 stop ND filter in conjunction with a polariser the colours intensified greatly and the water was reduced to an aqueous blur rather than the choppy waves that bristled the surface in real life.

Pentax 67II, 200mm lens, polariser used as a 2 stop ND + 4 stop ND filter. f/22 at 1 minute, Velvia. (a redundant brolly)

Ian,

This is absolutely gorgeous! The silkyness of the lake and the old weather pier provide a wonderful, moody foreground to the awesome display of color on the mountain slope.

I LOVE this image. I don't have any suggestions or critiques.

I did send you a note to let you know that I moved this to M&N nature simply because the old pier and pilings are a significant element to the scene. Thanks for understanding.

Wow Ian, this is a great, great shot. I agree with Lon that the pier with the velvet water is perfect together. If you hadn't had the story regarding the weather I wouldn't believe that it was that bad. I love these medium and larger format shots.. perfect.

A great title Ian. The wooden remains add a lot of interest and raise some questions and mystery. Very very nice!

Fantastic mood here. The deserted jetty seems to tell a story all on its own. I always find it hard to take shots with the rain and wind causing droplets on the lens. It looks like you managed to conquer the elements to capture this. Very nicely done.

This image has a great mood ot it...surreal and eerie. I love the way the slope of the land comes sweeping down into the water. Nicely captured.

I really like this. A very simple composition with excellent DOF and the colour on the mountains makes the background really stand out. When i'm next in Scotland no doubt i will endeavour to pass this way - an inspiration image.

You made the most out of bad circumstances, which shows that you can take a great photograph even in bad weather. Congrats on the EP!
