Pied Kingfisher

My first post of the year - from Thailand a couple of days ago. This is the most skittish of all the KF's and we were lucky to find a pair staking out a river. It seems to be very cognizant of slight changes in the scenery, but the Kwik Camo was partly able to "hide" me. Perch is a tree about 15 feet tall growing from the river bank.

1D3, 500mm + 2.0X, ISO800, no flash, early morning light, tripod, blind from behind high bank of gravel road, laptop processed.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice Kwan! The tree that it is perched on reminds me of an "Arroyo Sweetwood" tree that we have over in these parts. :toast:

At the rate you're going you'll be able to publish a beautiful book on kingfishers. This one's a beauty.

It's a beauty KC. I really like the perch and BG. I also like the DOF in that you got everything sharp.

My apologies for my oversight! Graeme, it was indeed at f11! 1/320 sec with EV +1/3. Flash was off as this bird would have shot off like a bat out of hell!
