Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos)

Taken in Bulgaria last weekend. Couldn't sit up straight in the very small hide and the weather was terrible. Rain, strong wind and some fog to go along with it.
Will not complain, this majestic bird was well worth waiting for.

VERY nice, Dennis! Amazing that you were able to use a hide for these wary birds. A gorgeous portrait, well worth your time.

What a shot! The feathers and sharpening you applied creates a fantastic painted quality to this already beautiful image.

Everything about this shot is spectacular - I keep looking for something that isn't perfect for my eye and failed. First time I can recall that Richard has used the word "impeccable" in a critique, which speaks volumes for me. A dip of my hat to you Dennis.

Maybe the best image I've seen of this species. A fantastic shot, congrats Dennis, did you photograph any other raptor species in Eastern Europe? :toast:

Don’t know how to use the quote tools so I’ll answer Nate’s question this way.

Nate , I did not try to shoot anything else then the Golden Eagles. I only had 3 days of shooting and the weather was not helping. The third day I did not take a single picture at all, just too much rain. Will try again in January. Once you’ve seen them you're hooked. It’s an impressive bird, almost 95cm high. For three days I did not want to shoot anything else.

regards Dennis
