Stormy Morning

An image I probably posted before (I believe...), but have never really get it to look right as a compressed jpeg file. (but have learned a lot since from you NPN wizards), so I give it another try.
A true unique version of that mood, as the storm was moving in so fast, the clouds covered the sky during the exposure... There is just some morning glow on the mountain range, but it was just for a few seconds. A minute later it was impossible to shoot with a LF gear, due to very strong wind gusts.

well, I have to add one more thing:
this is a natural platform, that is usually under water at hight tide (here: low tide), and the "thing " in the fg is a piece of bull kelp. Just mention it, because Verena always refers to this image as the "banana peel- image"!

I don't remember seeing this before, Georg. It is fantastic. There's a lot of beautiful images I love looking at that work well on the web or in books, but this is one I can see hanging on my wall for inspiration. Beautiful dramatic light, and a unique combination of intimate detail and vast open views. Superb!

Exceptional image, Georg. Wonderful comp and mood. Truly a wonderful image. I will nit and say that I wish the white dot, mid way up on the left weren't there.

Thanks for sharing

Wow...this is quite something. The kelp--perfectly placed, BTW--provides the helpful bit of contrast to the otherwise monochromatic foreground. The cracks take us into the mid-ground. The dominant diagonal white cloud brings the eye along the top of the image and the hints of magenta are a marvelous compliment to the rest of the image.

This is one outstanding image IMO. Thanks so much for sharing it.

I love the mood here. You did an excellent job at getting details all over the place here, and I can imagine myself just looking at it for long time appreciating them. Even the top right corner gives balance to the photo, and adds to the mood. Excellent.

I could look at this image for a VERY LONG time. It is beautiful. I'd love to see this much larger because I'm sure the impact would be even greater than at this size. Wonderful Image.

I love that light on the mountains and the foreground is a perfect lead in to a majestic landscape. Great clouds too!

Love the minimalism in this one! The single seagrass in the foreground, and the little yet very strong sunset colour in the clouds and on the top of the mountains. Fantastic work, I have nothing to criticise!

This image is outstanding...but IMO can be improved in 2 things: clone out that white dot at left and try to dodge the black clouds at the top right.

yes, I agree, the white dots hurts a bit, now that you mentioned it. (must be birdshit or sg...)
but, yes, an easy fix.

A stunning image here!!!! The foreground is stark and vast, and then the background peaks, color in the sky, and the clouds really bring this image togetehr wonderfully.

This is awsome

My only nit is the magenta cast to the alpenglow. Red, orange or yellow, yes, but magenta? Just needs a minor tweak. But everything else about this is spectacular.

Really spectacular cloud formation and detail such as can only be recorded with a LF camera and film. Are you using old stock of Velvia RVP or the new Velvia 50 in quickloads? The image seems to have a slight blue/cyan cast. Personally I think it might work better is this was selectively desaturated but you have a winning image anyway.

I think it is a powerful, and stunning image. I think the kelp in the foreground is not a positive incusion. It competes for my attention. Otherwise, a beautiful image!
