WC #287- Capitol Storm
by Brian VanDenzen
One of the great light afternoon/twilights of my my life. I sat in this same spot for 3 hours in the fall, watching a sunny afternoon turn to snowy afternoon. Just at sunset, the snow started to clear off the Capitol Peak, creating a great purple/blue feast of cloudy light. Intentionally underexposed to bring out the blues and purple I so enjoyed in the last moments of the setting sun.
Canon 5D. Canon EF 70-200 f4 L @ 200mm. Image cropped, so probably much closer to an effective focal length of 300mm (too bad I took this shot before I got my 1.4 extender, because that would have been about right on this shot). 1.3 seconds at f/11. Circular Polarizer. 3-stop grad. Tripod. Mirror lock-up, Remote Shutter Release. Levels, curves, channel mixer, usm for local contrast, smart sharpen, web sharpening
