I just happened to have a photo that fits this theme perfectly!
This eagle regularly perches on this flag pole where I work.

Gary: Did you pay him with a fish to get up there? Made me want to salute. Great moment and capture. Congrats on the EP. >=))>

Thank you all for the enthusiastic comments
Bill; no fish bribes were needed as this flag pole is about 5 yards from the ocean. I suspect that fish spotting is one of the reasons that it likes to use this as its perch!

This is awesome!! The Bald Eagle with the American Flag!! Looks like the top of the pole was made just for him. Must be wonderful to see these guys quite a bit.

How often does the average person see something like this? You can't beat it...our national symbol AND the Flag all in one! Nice capture and congrats, Gary!

Thank you, Sharon & Toni. This eagle and others actually perch here fairly often and I keep trying to catch one in a more dynamic pose (such as just landing or lifting off) on a blue sky day with the wind blowing fairly hard as in this photo but I can't seem to get all the elements at the same time. The president of the company that I work for liked this so much that he had me frame a couple of them with gold plaques and gave them to Alaska's Senator, Ted Stevens and Legislator, Don Young. Both are hanging in Washington, D.C.; one in Ted Steven's office and the other one in a "Great Hall" somewhere (I'm not sure which one). This image is a digital representation of what the framing & matting looked like (the actual frame was wood and fancier than represented here).
