Love the little guy Ganesh, and the lighting is really nice. Something here is losing me a little though - maybe the angle or the wide view. There doesn't seem to be much connection to the animals. Still a very nice shot, with great detail.

an excellent image, you captured a wonderful moment and got great lighting. The bear sanctuary is it like a big park where the bears roam free or is it more like a zoo? Either way this is stunning.

I like the composition (you really are a master at seeing these compositions), it's strong and uncluttered. I like the rock, its color and texture is beautiful. I'm a little bit confused by what the mother is doing, scratching, sitting, getting up? The little guy is rediculously cute. If I were able to see a large print of this it might clear up my uncertainty about what mom is up to. A wonderful photo, as usual. :toast:

David & Gary, you can read more about Daroji bear sanctuary in southern India here. It is a protected sanctuary for sloth bears (not like a zoo). But we can easily find them at certain areas within the park during evening hours. This is because forest department keep some food (like banana etc) at certain places to prevent them from invading into near by farms lands and thus creating conflicts with villagers. Further there is a hide constructed by forest dept to help watch them when they climb down hills in the evening. Please take a look at this image to get a feel for Daroji habitat. May be then the image posted makes better sense ! You can see one of the bears on a stone checking out for some food. They first check this area in the evening before disappearing into woods in search of natural food. In the original post the bear and cub (actually there are two cubs, another one is on the other side of the mother!) just got up the stone. Rest of my Daroji images are here in case your would like to see more bears and some of the other wildlife from Daroji Sanctuary - the best place to see and photograph sloth bears in India.

Thanks for your views :wavey:

Terrific shot Ganesh, a bit more headturn of the motherbear would have made this perfect for me. :toast:

Strange little bear. I'd so much rather see him in the wild.

A nice capture, Ganesh.
