Varied Thrush
by Dusty Veideman
Finally! After 2 weeks of skulking, this male finally came out for a couple seconds with the female! I was delighted to get a couple shots before he scurried off. I hope you like it as much as I do as it was a real thrill for me.
Nikon D1X, Sigma 50-500 at 500, 1/160@f8, No flash, Little monopod, cropped about 15% off.

This is so good it hurts..............Ouch!!
I can well imagine your elation.
Wow, absolutely the finest shot of this shy species I've ever seen, by a wide margin in fact ! Virtually unimprovable !! The setting is not only attractive but custom-made for the species. It's so nice I wouldn't mind a bit more of it; the dimensions suggest you cropped something off the end(s).
I'm not kidding when I suggest this one as an excellent candidate for Avian pick of the year.
Congrats !!!!!!

I was just looking at some of your earlier posts, and really love this one! I live an area whre there are plenty of these (by ear) but dont have an image that stands up to this in any way.
