Ok, I've finished my study :jump: Will get my degree within 2 weeks. So now I've time to fully dedicate myself fully to photography. 2007 will mean a lot of travelling and planning as Bart Breet and I will be working on a full workshop program that we like to offer in 2008 (we'll keep you posted on that). For now it means that I have plenty of time to go through some more work from 2006. Here's one of the GCG-shots from last spring. Unfortunately I didn't have as much time for them last year, but I was quite happy when I found this little fellow surfing its moms back on one sunny morning. Meanwhile daddy was getting some fish that they gave their offspring within focussing distance.

Canon EOS1Dmk2N
Canon EF300/2.8L USM + EF20II
1/500 @ f/8.0
ISO200, RAW
G1228, M10, Sidekick
Chestwaders + Anglefinder

In times past, I was able to photo Eared and Western Grebes with chicks from a floating blind. I was thrilled with some of my images, but none were as good as your effort shown here.

Hi a nice image but the white's appear to be a bit hot on the adults face and it looks like its swimming up hill.

Phillip.

Hi Jasper,

Cogratulations on your degree, and best wishes in your photographic career! I hope you don't get too busy to keep posting here, because your images are consistently excellent - you've definitely got what it takes to make it as a full-time pro.

Oh, and amazing shot. This is my favorite grebe image of yours so far. Awesome!

Gefeliciteerd Jasper!!!
And what a great shot. Chestwaders and anglefinder huh, so that's how you get this extreme low angle!
Are you sure you used f/8 here, the DOF seems so extremely shallow?
