Winter's Glass

This is only the second time I've posted in B&W. My original intention was a color presentation here too, but the image had other ideas. This is where it eventually led me. Hope I'm not lost.

In response to Will's question below, the diffuse reflections are in water. These icicles are hanging just above a gurgling stream. The "gurgles" probably splash a bit of water that actually aids in the creation of these odd shapes. This is the original scan
of this image. Be warned, however, I think it tends to ruin the illusion created by the B&W treatment.

Also in response to Will's comment, I've changed the title of the image. Thanks for the "suggestion" Will.

Nice image, Tony. It has the right amount of contrast for b&w, and the composition is an interesting one.

Tony, this is fantastic!! I especially like how smooth the water is and how it reflects the ice. I knew it got cold in AZ but I never would have expected ice like this!! Great job!!

I love taking this type of shot but I've never done BW with them. This inspires me to redo some of my archived shots. Excellent!

Tony,
I agree with the others, this is wonderful! A great range of tones from black to white. I'd love to see this in a print. Really reminds me of a butterfly chrysalis. Thanks for sharing!

Tony - sweet image and presentation. As mentioned you have superb contrast with the conversion, but what draws me is the glass like texture that casts a great diffuse reflection - is that water? Quite interested!

Hi Tony,
I've recently photographed similar formation but your image is much more better. I can really "feel" the ice...I can't find anything I don't like.

Whoa, somehow I missed this one! Sensational, Tony...the others say "bats" but somehow my first thought was frozen sides of beef  You should post more b&w...

I love your eye. I'm glad I discovered your work. I, too, have been photographing ice for decades. It is truly an amazing and beautiful substance.
