Alpine Autumn Sunrise

Taken this morning from the Presidential Range in New Hampshire, sandwiched between clouds layers the landscape illuminated at sunrise.

I'm curious as to thoughts on this, particularly the LRC...this was cropped to 4x5, and I have a few viable variations that I could do with the crop to minimize/maximize the visual impact of the blueberry scrub in it's fall coat.

Thanks for comments and honest critiques.

I love it just as it is. Really, nothing to nitpick here - great color, composition, and impresive view.

Spectacular as is. You say you cropped to 4x5 but don't say what you eliminated.

The crop anchors the image just fine. I like the detail here, but for some reason the whole scene isn't coming together for me, although I can appreciate the view. There's something about the peaceful solitude which only these altitudes can bring.

Beautiful Jim. I love the way the clouds/fog seem to be just creeping over the top of the peak before sweeping back downward. Great capture.

David,

Here is the origional frame uncropped. I cropped to remove the vingnetting from the filter, and also the dark area of relative disinterest at the bottom. Would you instead perhaps perfer full frame with some cloning???

Rick,
I can appreciate what your saying, I have a difficult time making compositions looking down from peaks at times. Alot easier looking up

This is quite nice. I love the clouds out in the open and the popping color in the foreground.

I agree with your cropping decision on the bottom as it moves the blueberries right up front. However unless you need a standard size (8x12 or 8x10) I would crop less sky. I love those looming clouds and think they nicely balance the red blueberries. Of course, all this is subjective. In any case it is a wonderous scene.

Very impressive view and image Jim. The foreground does a good job of giving a point of reference in this vast sea of air!

This is a lovely scene. I think I slightly prefer the original before the crop because the dark clouds at the top balance the rocks at the bottom. Full marks for being there to make the picture.

I think you have excellent composition. The spacing on the right is nice, as it flows with the line of the mountain. Nice shooting!

Fantastic image with the splash of fall color in the FG and the delicate clouds flowing over the ridge. Excellent use of the Grad Filter and I think the crop works perfect. Congrats on the well deserved EP!

A remarkably impressive landscape. The crop looks fine to me - the blueberry scrub sits very comfortably within the scene. A joy to look at.
