Blue jetty

An hour before sunrise and the unblemished surface of Lake Coniston, Cumbria is still in the grip of velvet twilight. The shot is unfiltered, but undoubtedly velvia has responded by exaggerating the colours in a most pleasant way in the form of reciprocity failure. The wooden structure is the Coniston steamer jetty.

Pentax 67II, 55-100 zoom, F22 at 15 secs, Velvia.

WOW  Super cool colors and reflection. Is there a bit of fog? I love how the jetty seems to stretch into infinity.

Very nice Ian. The foggy BG reflection and ability to see the bottom in the FG water are really nice details. (I've also now learned what "reciprocity failure" is, never having used film before. Search engines are great.)

Absolutely awesome Ian. It's super as is but it would be nice if you had another version with a human element to it. I guess the problem is not many people hang out around jetties an hour before sunrise (except other photographers  )

Great image! All of the lines and reflections lead my eye in to a mysterious place where adventures are surely waiting.

This is unbelievable - it is so perfect in every way but even for medium format I cant believe how sharp and detailed this - this makes me want to give up my 5D for MF even though I know it is your skills that make it so good and not the camera

A familiar scene, but I struggle to recall seeing it rendered as beautifully as this. The composition and underwater detail are very striking elements. As you say, the colours have been exaggerated in a way that complements the scene superbly.

Nice! Very sureal with the amazingly still water, the fog... I guess it pays to wake up early in the cold mornings...

What stands out to me is the detail under the water. I love the color too Ian.

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments and yes Beth that is good old English fog and quite a dense bank of it too. Peter this was taken in mid July at 4.30am, now you know I'm bonkers, unfortunately no-one else was daft enough to queue for the morning ferry at this hour.
