Ahh, Mountains

I struggled for a name for this one in addition to struggling with the comp - it winds up being a bit more complacent than I might like but it was a fine afternoon and a great joy to be there - We fought rain and cloud much of the trip and junk was flying all around the neighboring peaks with a hole allowoing light on the far range - will have to research the names of these - they are a little on the sexy side,no? - Todd - any idea of their names ? dont have the maps handy - this is looking east from Columbine Lake in the Weminuche - there were patches of paintbrush all over - the grouping I liked the most would have resulted in great devastation to the colony so I left it alone - this has a little left to right motion after a slight crop - mostly its a trip image rather than high art - but it sure was a great afternoon

btw for those who didnt go back to the prior post that was Fuji NPS - as is this - much less PS work than you might think

there is just a tad cyan in the sky that I may redo later

Ahh, Mount Oso and Irving Peak. Looking down Johnson Canyon.

I love the shot, and the flowers look like they were spectacular, at least in spots. (this being one of those spots!) This and the previous post both struck me as a little blue, so perhaps you might want to counter that. But geez, it's awesome. I've been checking the forum every few hours in anticipation of seeing more shots from your trip. I can't wait to see what's next!

This is a great image IMO. I like the light here, the color in fg flowers and the clouds are wonderful. :toast: :toast:

some of the blue was unavoidable due to big blue reflector overhead - struggling as always with how much to take out - it drifts towards cyan real quick - I think its the film rather than the scanner but in the end its my eyes playing tricks

Nice one Nye - those peaks are great and the sweeping field of flowers comes across great. Personally I would do a selective color adjustment on this to just warm up the greens without messing with the mountains or sky too much.

I would leave it as is. I love the cold feeling coming out of it.

Terrific composition with the gently curving "plateau" leading to the mtn range and that paintbrush receeding into the distance. Detail in the shadows and highlights shows the benefits of your choice of film. Gotta love that 110 XL...(best lens I've ever used).

Ahh, cool colors... I really, really enjoy looking at this one.
sometimes I very much appreciate the absence of deep red sunset/sunrise light in mountain photography. perfect light for that kind of fg.
btw, good job of holding down the highlights on the mountain.

Nye,

Very cool. Literally. But I like it this way. The scene feels cool. Great find with the flowers, mountains, and dramatic clouds.

Dude,

Very nice! Pretty cool place I'd say! I have only one tiny nit and it's the grad line on the ridges to the left and right. But there's not much you can do about that with a straight line! Maybe we should get Bob to make us a custom ND grad in a V shape! I know he could do it!

Seeing this at my desk at work is a strange mix of bliss and torture. Wish I were out there right now. An amazing image.

I feel Guy's pain, viewing the image at work and wishing to be there, too. Beautiful, I can feel the breeze and smell the flowers, love it.

Nye,

You've really captured the feel of the Weminuche wilderness. Spectacular mountains, alpine meadows, huge vistas and gardens of wildflowers. Very nice! Maybe you could simply call it "Weminuche".
