Toadstools on Tree

I saw this group of toadstools growing about 6 feet off the ground 2 weeks ago. I have no idea what kind of toadstools they are, or what kind of toadstools grow in SE Wisconsin in the middle of winter. But I found them intriguing nonetheless.

I like the soft, lush look of the toadstools next to the rough fissured bark. And the delicately fluted undersides show too...marvelous.

Do you know what kind of tree they were on?

I agree Kent. Not many fungus growing around here in the middle of Winter either. This is something I would expect to see in the fall. Beautiful shot. The detail and texture of the fungus is remarkable for this time of year. The snow on the top adds that little something different.

Kent this is a great image. The contrast and the color are perfect and I like the OOF BG.

Ken,

Good job with the light and details. The only improvement would have been getting the right side tree trunk in focus. This would have been a good case for two images, one for the toadstools and one for the tree trunk. :toast:

Kent,
I don't know what kind of fungus this is either to survive the winter looking so fresh. Wonderfully detailed. Congrats on the EP! :toast:

Beautiful photo. what equipment did you use and what were your settings, if you remember. The sharpness of the photo is truly impressive. :toast:
