Grove of the Sun

Sunlight streaming into an Aspen Grove, Boulder Mountain Wilderness, Utah. I had visulized this shot the night before while camping in the valleys of the Escalante below. If the weather was good I was going to get up early and make an attempt at it. After a long snowshoe hike in the frigid pre-dawn hours I arrived at this beautiful grove of Aspens at around ten thousand feet overlooking the Eastern horizon. As the sun appeared brilliantly on the horizon I shot several images using the light directly to create long shadows on the glistening powder.

Beautiful. Makes me anxious for winter, but since it lasts so long, I guess I can wait! Great exposure to get the snow just right!

Excellent vision Mark and technicals are perfect! Your sunstars are just right every time... I'd sure like to learn how to do that!

Marc,

This has everything going for it. The branch in the forground gives interest. It may have been cold, but, it has a warm feeling. Excellent.

Hi Marc!

Warm glow of snow and cristal clear sky is what makes this photo IMO. Aspens are nice to add interest as is sun star.

Good light

Very nice colors !!
A beautiful ambiance but I have a problem with the LRC branches wich are going out to the photo.

The exposure is really well done
