We were delighted when a pair of Eastern Bluebirds chose a nest box outside our window. Even lucky enough to be there when 3 of the 4 fledgling took to flight, all except one. Kept a close eye on that one; even chased away a Mockingbird who got too interested. Worried how the fledgling would ever survive the night. It did and much to my surprise and education the mother returned, found her baby and kept feeding it until the fledgling had wings strong enough for permanent liftoff! Technically, hand holding a 50 mp camera at this exposure while peeking through shutters, came as a challenge.

Dennis and David, Thank you very much for sharing your responses. I was disappointed not to achieve better focus under trying circumstances, but the moment was so perfect, it was too good not to use and perform every trick in the book to sharpen her up.

Nice capture of the interaction between mother and baby, Dave. I missed that shot with our bluebirds, but maybe next year. It actually looks like the father feeding the baby, with so much color in his plumage. Anyway, a nice shot through the window, hand held.
