Minolta 100mm macro

While visiting one of our sons in Scottsdale this spring I came across this pristine prickly pear in a traffic divider near their house. I didn't take a tripod so had to hand hold but the image stabilization saved the day. All comments welcome. Please view LARGE.  >=))>

Bill, this is a lovely cactus bloom image, with great clarity and sharpness both in the bloom and in the buds.  I could possibly see a modest crop from the left for a tighter focus on the bloom and the buds.  The lighting from behind looks great.

Hi Bill,

Very nice colors and textures present in your image.  You could go with a square comp as Mark suggested in his critique. Well done...............Jim

Nice look at the bloom.  I like how the flower is framed by the rest of the cactus.

Cactus flowers can be a real challenge to get enough DOF and you handled this one really well.  I like the composition as is.  Well done Bill.

Very nice closeup take here on this one, Bill. I think the classification or common name is interchanged between Prickly Pear and Beavertail cactus as being the same......laugh
But maybe not. On the other hand the flower being pink or red my be the deciding factor there......wink
Regardless, a wonderful take. I could go along with the suggested square crop too......enlightened
