Rufous on Crocosmia

I spent some time trying to photograph Rufous Hummingbirds on our Crocosmia patch a couple of mornings ago.  This was my favorite of the session.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, tripod with ball head and Sidekick, f/8, 1/1250, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 17.4 MP and flipped horizontally because it seemed to work better that way.  Taken at 6:05 am on July 12th.

I value your critiques a lot-it's how I improve.

Thanks,

Hello, Dennis, lovely shot ! I love the angle of view, the birds seems really to fly into the image ! The light couldn't be better either I'd say. Love it way round ! Cheers, Hans

Excellent light and composition on this Rufous shot.  I'm surprised you got so much wing blur at 1/1250.  Although I have a lot of Crocosmia in my yard, the hummingbirds have not been as cooperative for me as they have in years past.

Excellent image of this Rufous, Dennis.  I love the lighting.  Worth getting up early for, that is for sure.
