I had both a male and this female come to my new small bathing pond yesterday.  I have a couple of misters hooked to the supply for the drip through a timer and one of them was on when she came in.  I liked the effect.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 435 mm, tripod with ball head & sidekick, f/8, 1/400, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 17 MP.  Taken at 8:55 am on July 6th.

Your comments and critiques are appreciated.

Thanks,

I like the pose and the detail is great-a real nice look at the Grosbeak.  The water droplets on the bird is a nice addition.

It's a great look at the female Grosbeak with a good head turn and nice soft light.  For me the many marks from the mist are a distraction because there are just so many of them, they don't look like rain.  Maybe using a very slow shutter speed would have provided an interesting result.  devil

Yes Dennis, an interesting effect; provides texture to the excellent image of this bird.  The detail, head turn, pose and perch are all wonderful.  I would however like to see the bird without the mist.  I had one of these last year at my feeder but it was not very cooperative.
