Bird Gallery 2

I decided to keep with the theme of the new gallery this week and post another bird picture.  Although I guess I have really not kept with the spirit of the new gallery very well since this is actually a captive bird, and not just another wild bird on a man-made object.  This was taken at the Arizona/Sonora Desert Museum in Tuscon Arizona.  There were several captive hummingbirds nesting at the end of April when we were there.  Canon 60D, f10, 1/100 sec, iso 1600, 100-400 ISLii at 400 mm, cropped to about 75%.  I reduced the noise quite a bit in the BG using Gaussian blur.  Thanks for your thoughts.

Very cool, Ed.  I didn't encounter the hummingbirds when I was there a few years ago.  This is very nice.  It's not often you get a chance to shoot a nest without worrying about endangering the brood.  Excellent detail and composition.

Captive or not Ed, this is a real nice shot!  Nice use of that Gaussian blur for the background.  I use it myself sometimes.

Missed this one before - very nice!
Interesting nest with the bits of fuzz and leaves.
The bird could use a bit more sharpening, and - if it were mine - I'd clone out that bit of lichen behind her head.
I like this a LOT.
