Barn swallow

This swallow had a nest under the eves of the picnic shelter at the Sugar Grove Nature Center, in central Illinois.  This building is used for nature classes and group activities so I was comfortable with trying for photos as the swallows had to be use to people around their nest site.  The problem with the site is that sun seldom reached the nest itself, making for a challenging photo location.

Nice shot of this mosquito catcher.  Well exposed and sharp where it needs to be.  I would be tempted to clone out the few white poop spots on the perch.

Barn Swallows as a species are pretty used to people, since they build most of their nests in structures.  A very nice image, particularly considering the limited light.
