Wood Duck

Taken from a blind at a wildlife area in the Willamette Valley.

Canon 7D Mark II
Sigma 150-600 at 403 mm
1/1000 at f 7.1
ISO 500

In PS I decreased the clarity to give the background a smooth, dreamy effect.  May not be to everyone's taste.

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Really a nice capture of this fella out in the open. It's to bad about the line of plant matter going across his face in the reflection but nothing you could of done about it. Still an awesome image. devil

Hello, Allen,

Personally the dreamy effect appeals to me a lot. I agree with John about the horizontal plant crossing the reflection, on the other hand it was there, so ... All in all a very appealing and atmospheric image! Cheers, Hans

Favorite species! I agree with the debris in the reflection but it's still a nice image.  Ron

A lovely job on the Wood Duck, Allen.  In general, I like the background effect you achieve, though the out of focus stems have a slightly odd look-I'd be tempted to remove some of them.  An interesting idea-I never thought of adjusting clarity to get that effect.
