Ruddy Courtship

This male ruddy duck is engaged in their very unique courtship display.  He points his tail feathers straight up, fills his throat and belly with air, then starts whacking his neck and belly with his bill.  He does this at an amazingly rapid rate (1/1000 sec. didn't totally stop the action, especially on his bill), forcing air out his bill. This, and I think the rapid movement of his belly cause an amazing vibration and bubbles on the water.  A couple of females were close by, evaluating his performance.  Hat Creek Valley, California, a couple of weeks ago.  D500, 150-600 @ 600, f8. 1/1000, ISO 500, -0.7 e.c.  I must apologize for my lack of participation the past few months, but been very busy.  Have been able to do some photography, luckily.  Thanks for any comment and/or criticism on this image.
