Likin' the Moss

Sorry.  I couldn't resist that one.  I know I have quite a few photos in the files that would fit this challenge, but I liked this shot of a Robin perched on a large Big-Leaf Maple trunk covered in moss (and Cottonwood fluff) that I took a week ago at Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.

By the way, if you really like moss and you ever get to the Puget Sound region, plan a trip to the Bloedel Reserve.  It's the old "summer home" of one of the early lumber barons and has a lot of natural landscaping, including an awesome moss garden.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/7.1, 1/125, iso 2500, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 9.4 MP.  Taken at 2:09 pm on May 24th under mostly cloudy skies.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis, the moss (and the cottonwood fluff) both show very well here.  The Robin looks mad (but there's something about bird beaks that leaves most of them looking mad to me...frown)  A fun view.

Hey Dennis,
What a cool perch for this Robin and what an excellent choice on framing this composition. When I first saw the thumbnail, it looked like snow in the moss but the fluff is more unique IMO.
Well done . . .  laugh
