Party Crasher

Sony A77II
Sony 70-400G @ 400mm, 12mmXT, about a 30% crop
ISO 1600, 1/1250 @ f5.6
I was out in our garden early this morning shooting some lilies when this little guy crashed the party. I was able to disengage the camera from the tripod, boost the ISO and turn on the high speed frame rate before he got his fill of our salvia and winged off. I got a ton of empty frames and partials but did get this one that I'm pretty pleased with.I did cheat a bit and added the catch light since the near side of his face was in shadow. This is my annual foray into Avian so all comments and suggestions are most welcome. Please view LARGE. >=))>

Very cool, Bill.  A real frame filler.  I can see why you had trouble getting it all in the frame.  Your detail is excellent and I like the bit of motion blur in the wings and tail.  Very nice work.

Great to see you over here Bill, super detail you captured, nice job with the quick adjustments.  I would say if you have any extra room on the left and top I would give the bird some more space there as he feels just a bit cramped into the frame especially on the right.  devil

Hey Bill, good to see you over here. I haven't seen much from you since I also haven't posted in flora in forever. Nice detail and I agree with Nate on the extra room if you have it. Hope to see posts more often form you over here!
