Bison in a Snowstorm
by Max Waugh
I like photographing wildlife during a falling snow, but sometimes it's coming down so hard and thick that conditions for photography get a little challenging. I find myself looking to emphasize patterns and shapes in those cases, since details are often difficult to discern. In this case, I slowed my shutter speed in hopes of "painting" lines of snow across the bison's dark body. It was a fun experiment. I converted to monochrome in order to emphasize the patterns and textures more.
