This is the same oak forest as my previous image. I thank you for your comments on that one.

I have included a version cropped a bit from the top.

I like the dynamic of the clouds in the first, but I also like the position of the tree in the frame on the alternate. Which do you prefer?

Nikon D-7100
Nikkor 16-85 @ 16
F-16 @ 1/40, ISO 250
TK's Masks and a slight warming.

Your thoughts are always appreciated. cool

Put me down for the cropped version. I find the crop tightens up the comp nicely. A fine spring day.

I think I prefer this posted version of the three photos.  This has the most space around the tree and does a good job of layering that foreground and the sky.

The cropped version for me. Puts the focus on the tree. To me, the clouds are great but still more of a background element.

Preston, my preference is for the cropped version here. The extra space around the tree also really helps as compared to your prior post of this tree. The light and clouds here are very dramatic looking, and you have processed it very well. My only nit is that that there is a horizontal white line in the URC that may be a contrail, I would clone that away.

The cropped version is a bit better. For a tree portrait I feel this tree doesn't stand out enough in color and tonality from those around it.

The repost is the ticket for me as it places more of an emphasis on the tree, Preston. My only suggestion would be to take care of a bright line toward the URC; jet contrail maybe?

Preston, this is more isolated look at a finely shaped oak, that's a bit more attractive than your previous post.  I like both versions of this, although the cropped version has a bit more presence with it's subtle extra emphasis on the tree.  The green grass and the blue sky sure do speak of spring.
