Black-necked Ibis in action

As the water level goes down at Mangalajodi Swamp area, Orissa, India, these subjects feast on the snakes which becomes visible. Here the snake (I do not know its ID) is giving a last try to save itself by coiling itself to the grassroots.

Nikon D500, 500F4 G ED VR. Exposure Time - 1/1000 seconds, F Number – 8.00, Exposure Program - Aperture priority, ISO – 640, White Balance – SUNNY, Focus Mode - AF-C

I appreciate all critiques.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR VIEWING & INPUTS.

Love that blurry background. The snake puts this over the top. Well done.

Really great action shot Somdeb.  The snake really adds a lot of interest to this shot.  Good job controlling the whites and the darks in the same frame, and as Jerry has  pointed out, good BG too.

This is really good timing, Somdeb, to get the posture of the Ibis and action of the snake in one frame. As you may know we have the White Ibis in the southern US. They probe around blindly in the marshes with their bills feeling for smaller prey, but I've never known one to get such a big catch. I know little about snakes except to avoid them, so can't offer an I.D. Fine shot and well composed.

Wonderful image and very well captured.  Excellent action comp, great point of view and perfect light and depth.  Excellent detail on the 2 subjects while getting a nice, soft background.  Well done!

I got the ID of the Snake taking help from a Facebook Group. Its Smooth scaled water snake (Enhydris enhydris).
Thanks a ton for your inputs.

What really makes this for me besides the color and the action is the depth of field.  Really nice job on this image.

A superb image, Somdeb.   You handled the dark tones and whites very well with excellent detail in both.  The action adds a lot to the image, and your low angle really makes the bird and snake pop.  Well done.

Hi - great to see you over here!
This is an amazing image - perfect angle to get a clear view of the ibis and snake, great action, perfect BG.
The only possible nit is that the eye of the ibis might be brightened up a bit.
This is a contest-worthy image.
Congrats on a very fine WP!

Thanks to you all for your inputs and the WP.
Thanks a ton, Sandy for the input. Yes, I missed that point. It could have been brightened a bit for more impact.
