Out of the rain + REPOST

We finally had a day where the rain left us alone and the Crocus could stand and open up.  They've been pounded pretty hard.  I have a couple nice groupings in my backyard, but many of the blooms are bent or broken and laying on their side.  I haven't used the cram technique with crocus before, but i think it worked OK.

D850 hand held, 150 macro, ISO 800, f3.8, 1/1600 (there was a bit of a breeze)

Comments and critiques welcome.

Haven't heard from you for a while. Glad to see you are posting again. I agree, it worked very well. Nice focus and colors.

Steve

i like the way the cram techniques worked on this one. Really highlights that one flower.  Very lovely capture.

Steve: We don't get crocus in our part of the world so I'm insanely jealous of your opportunity. This is a beautiful subject superbly isolated. I really like your DOF/POF choice. My only suggestion would be to crop almost all of the dark BG up top and some off the bottom as well to more completely fill the frame with the wonderful colors and bring the frame ratio closer to 4:5. Still wonderful as is. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

Thank you for the comments!  Bill, I appreciate the suggestion.  Here's a new version with the 4x5 crop.

Now that you have reposted, I can see how Bill's suggestion makes it an even better image.

For me the cram works very well.  I do wish that the focus was a bit more on the front of the stamen rather than back on the back of the stamen.  I think the repost helps the photo overall.
