The Flasher

In these woods, a flash of red caught my eye...And, I spotted this beautiful male sitting on a branch brightening that little patch of dark green.  There was just a slight breeze, which parted his crown a bit to show the whitish gray beneath.   He was very alert to my presence, as his feathers were standing straight up on his head.  But, he lingered long enough for me to get some nice shots of him.

As always, handheld.

A very good composition, Lucy, and the pose of the Cardinal is great.  I like the bright greens in the background in this case as they set off the red so well.  I'd be tempted to darken the bright areas on the small oof branch that parallels the Cardinal as they tend to pull my eye.
