Mourning Dove

Probably wondering where spring went.  We've had some relatively spring-like weather of late, but last night and this morning it snowed about 3 inches here (all of 15 miles south of David Schoen).  Given this week's challenge, I had to go out to see what I could make of it.  While the doves are quite skittish, this one chose a nice snowy perch for about 3 frames.  The pose seems a bit awkward to me, but I liked the head turn.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 CC, Jobu Gimbal mounted to blind window frame, f/8, 1/400, iso 2000, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Minor brightness and saturation adjustment and Topaz Detail to bring out feather structure.  Taken at 9:11 am today.

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Very nice, Dennis!  I like that the exposure keeps the detail and textures in the snow yet has plenty of light for the bird.  Nice color also and a classic composition plus great feather detail in the large version.

This is a superb over the shoulder view of this Dove.  I like the head turn and the high key effect from the snowy environment.

This is a great pose, Dennis, with the dove peering at you showing great feather detail.  The snowy background provides a fine high-key.  You've handled the whites very well.
