A close-up I took last month of a female Elephant Seal on the South Shetland Islands, just off the Antarctic Peninsula.  Her slightly open eye suggests she was aware of me but not at all concerned.  This is not cropped, just trimmed slightly on the right and left edges,  Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM at 227mm, manual exposure 1/800th f/8, ISO 640.

Great image, Charles.  I especially like the expression and techs look spot on.

A great close-up portrait of this elephant seal, Charles!  Exceptional facial and fur detail, especially in the large version.
