Alpine Dusk

Vorderer Langbathsee, a mountain lake in Upper Austria's part of Salzkammergut. After a five hours hike we relaxed at the shore at dusk.

Comments and critique are appreciated.

PS: contrast and saturation are only slightly enhanced from the RAW file in order to keep the mood of the "blue hour"

I'm liken' this a lot,but I think I would crop off the underwater rocks. They are a little distracting, IMHO.

This is a pretty scene. I would agree with Michael about the crop suggestion. Eliminating the underwater rocks nicely pulls me into the reflection and onto the trees. Either way, very nice.

Like the soft painterly treatment.  Could add some contrast, which would be my natural inclination, but I rather like what you have done here.  Delicate feel which I like.  Looks like a great place to explore.

Silvia,

A long way to go, but certainly a view worth the time to get there.  I think it might be difficult to leave this place.

I like the soft and subtle autumn presence here; it's not like some of the bold, vibrant autumn scenes we've seen.

Personally I like the full reflection, although I would probably burn down the LLC and the rock shelf at the bottom.  I think maybe adjust the colors a bit.  To me, this is a bit on the green side overall, and in some areas a bit cyan and a bit saturated at the bottom.

Also agree with Harry on the added contrast.  Maybe not a lot, but some. One technique I use is to add a Curves or Levels adj layer on top of the stack.  No adjustments, but change the blending mode to "soft light" and then decrease the opacity to taste. Typically you're going to have to take the opacity way down to like 20% or less.  Give the image just a little punch.

You have a lovely and beautiful scene to work with.  thanks for sharing.

Silvia, this is very nice. I love the subtle colors of the shoreline trees, and getting that small bit of rock in the upper left offsets all the trees nicely.

I second all of Lon's suggestions, actually. The first thing I thought when looking at it was that it is very green.

This is a lovely scene, and I like the soft light. I agree with Lon's suggestions, and the comments about the green cast. I might also burn down the light grey cliff in the background, along with the suggested burn of the lower portion of the reflection. If you do adjust the contrast, don't over do it. You could lose the feeling of soft light. I love the Autumn color on the shoreline.

Hi Silvia,
I would suggest cropping off the bottom along the reflected tree line.  I agree with a small contrast adjustment too.  I am also sensing a slight color cast which could be fixed in a variety of ways (LAB, dehaze, etc.).  Would be nice to see a repost if you choose to make any changes.

I don't know how I could have missed this. I like this just the way it is without any enhancements. It's subtly beautiful. The colors and tones capture the feeling at dusk very nicely. The lower section does seem a bit green but I attribute that to the quality of the water itself and not any processing. Anyone who has camped in the Sierras can identity with this scene. Usually smoke from a campfire drifts across the lake and quiet voices of campers can be heard from the other side. A good memory.
