Taken at the Portland Rose Garden last summer.
In PS I darkened the background flowers to give a greater sense of separation between the them and the main subject.  The upper background was mostly black and I painted the rest black.  I also increased the saturation and brightened the yellow middle.

Canon 7d Mark II

ISO 320

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Does this image accurately reflect the color of the bloom? The Dainty Bess rose looks like this, but it is light pink to fairly dark pink. Was the light such that it could have affected to color?  I do like this image, especially the light and sharpness of the main bloom while the others are present bu do not detract from the main subject. Good idea to blacken the BG.

Jim,  Thanks for commenting.  The photo was taken in bright, overhead sunlight and I felt the colors were washed out, so I did decrease the exposure in LR, which did darken the flower.  Perhaps too much.

Beautiful image Allen!  The red is a bit strong but if you didn't know this flower it wouldn't bother you.  Excellent detail and nice work handling the harsh light.  I like how you treated the yellow middle and made it appear to glow.  Very nice handling of the background and other blooms as well.  Nice work!

Nice PS work, Allen.  I like the details in the center of the bloom.  Very light and dainty.  A very pretty bloom.

A beautiful presentation, best seen large. A little more work with saturation and luminance might bring out the venation a bit better, but good as is.
