Enjoying the Flowers

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted November 12, 20173,639 views6 comments

A friend and I went out to the Botanical Gardens this week to try to get a few shots before the cold weather set in. This grasshopper didn't seem to mind us one bit while he was looking for food, and us looking for a good shot. I think he found the food! Taken with Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100 mm L macro lens, with the twin flash and DIY diffuser. Settings were f19, 1/250, ISO 320. Comments and suggestions welcome.

A rich array of forms, textures and colours, Shirley, making for a very appealing image. The grasshopper is beautifully detailed, and the dof just right for me.

I really like how the hopper blends in with it's lunch and the contrast with the rock. The details in the hopper are awesome and the subtly oof flower is a fine addition.

Impressive details in the large view, Shirley. It looks huge. The lunch is a nice bonus element. Great find and capture.
