Salal

Something a little different.  Salal grows pretty much like a weed along the Oregon coast.  These will turn into dark purple berries and were used as food by Native Americans.  The leaves are evergreen and are popular in floral arrangements.

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Allen, very nice image. Thank you for the history of this flower. Never seen one but you captured it very well with nice detail. Your image makes a nice first impression.

Look at this large, a must see. The berries alone make this image. The foliage does supply context, but neither harms nor helps the total image.cool

Very pretty flower...never heard of this, being from the Gulf Coast.  Nice color and definition.  The pano does well with this flower.  Only nit...I would have cloned the stem all the way to the healed cut. The one crossing in front of the flower on the far rt.
