I caught this one this afternoon out in Henderson inlet.  Not easy getting  close to them.  One just needs to be really patient and let them come to you.  The water was calm enough for me to get the reflection of the golden alders from across the inlet. Taken in the late afternoon just as the sun had essentially left the water but you can see a tiny bit of the glow on the tail of the bird. So I really like the water on this one.  Needs to be seen large.

Iso-1600, 200-500 at 500 mm, 2000, F10, handheld, 60% of full frame,
D 500, DxO Optics Pro, ACR 10, Topaz adjust, TK sharpening action at 50%

That's pretty much my experience with all ducks David. I normally sit ont he shore and wait and at some point they almost forget you are there is you don't make any sudden movements and accept your presence. I like hte water dripping form the bill and the golden reflections on the water.

Another excellent image, David.  Your new low vantage point is really paying off on water bird images.  Once again you caught some wonderful reflections in the water.
