I photographed this colorful rock wall from our yacht as we cruised out of Tracy Arm in Alaska's Inside Passage in August.  Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM at 170mm, manual exposure f/10 @ 1/320th, ISO 200.

A great collection of colors and textures here, Charles.  The diagonal flow adds a nice sense of movement.  This looks like some of the hot springs runoff in Yellowstone, were there hot springs involved?

Mark, it was not from hot springs.  Simply water leeching out through trace iron deposits.

Hi Charles,

Very nice colors and textures on this rock face.  The large view reveals some details in the shadows. Well done..............Jim

Charles, very nice!  The colors seem to be flowing down the image.  Nice color and texture.

Amazing abstract image, Charles.  Looks like something from Yellowstone NP rather than the Tracy Arm.  Beautiful.

My first thought was "Tracy Arm"? I know we saw some amazing greens & whites with patterning it them there, but not the reds and oranges and golds. This is really fascinating and the large version is great. It really looks like old wood. Great shot.
