Sunrise At Assateague

Sunrise at Assateague Island, VA.  It looked like as we headed over that it just might be a nice sunrise, since we had some clouds in the sky.  I was pleased when the sun peaked through just a little.  I used Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 24-105 mm L lens at 80 mm, on tripod.  I used a graduated neutral density filter to help hold back the brightness in the sky from blowing out.  Settings were f22, 1/13 (using timer), ISO 100.  Cropped to 97% of original frame (just to straighten the horizon a bit.  Comments and suggests are always welcome.

Shirley, this is quite nicely composed, and I think it has lots of potential. At first the FG looked dark, but the larger image seems to show the details better, at least to my eye. My only suggestion would be to frame downward a bit to get more of the water at the bottom. Nice use of the ND grad. I would be interested ti know your exposure bias - maybe slightly higher exposure for more FG detail?  Overall a pleasing image.

Wow what a great photo. Great composition and color. Might try to saturate or boost the light wiee bit to bring out a little bit more of the lake and the reflection. Keep up the good work

Looks like a fine morning on Assateague, Shirley.  Your comp. looks good with the leading line of the creek.  Those silhouetted trees are great.  The cyan in the water reflections looks a bit strong.

I like the composition of this image. Nice leading line taking you into the scene. The reflection in the water gives a nice touch. The only thing I would suggest is crop the down to the bottom of the dark cloud that extends all the way across the top of the image. That brings my eye down into the more important parts of the scene.

Shirley, I like this composition and the dark mood works very nice here. It has a quiet and peaceful feel but also mysterious at the same time.
